One solution, two functions: PerfectaCOL® in compostable dry food packaging

Dry food packaging often depends on more than one synthetic component to deliver the required performance. A package may need one layer or adhesive for heat-pressure sealability and another coating to provide oil-and-grease resistance. For producers of paper-based packaging for coffee, cereals, snacks and other dry foods, this creates a clear challenge: how do you move towards fully biodegradable or compostable packaging without compromising seal strength, barrier performance or existing production efficiency?

PerfectaCOL® provides a potato starch-based solution that combines both functions in one material. It acts as a heat-pressure sealable adhesive and an oil-and-grease barrier, helping packaging producers replace two synthetic components with one plant-based alternative. Because it is compatible with existing sealing equipment, manufacturers can move towards compostable packaging without retooling or major process changes. With 97% biodegradation within 28 days under industrial composting conditions and DIN EN 13432 certification, PerfectaCOL® helps close the gap between paper-based substrates and truly compostable packaging systems. For dry food packaging producers, it offers a practical route to stronger sustainability claims, simpler formulations and reliable packaging performance.
